Why it matters: Being more than just a worker is the best part of leading human-centric teams. I'll never stop searching for the next new ways to be human-centric, and I'm excited you're joining me!
Princess Leia is my white whale.
In Moby Dick (which I've totally read...) the main character is consumed with finding a very rare whale. A white whale.
It became an obsession, a singularly-focused pursuit that led to both his glory and downfall.
As a leader, I’ve seen many executives with their own “white whale”, usually profits. And while profit matters, it can’t exist without people, tools, and process.
Yet strangely, it seems that businesses now believes that in order to get that profit, prestige, and power, people are no longer equally important to prioritize in their pursuits. (phew, enough "P"s)
After launching The Human-Centric Leader, I realized that a search for novelty was the better journey for me. And it has become my obsession.
What is novelty? Novelty is the search for the new, interesting, and unexpected. It's what makes people more creative, more innovative, and ultimately more rested as a human and as a leader, giving us a more resilient and productive life.
So thanks for joining me on this search for novelty. Together we'll get to discover new ways to be better leaders.
